I mentioned in an earlier blog post that I was a fan of new and emerging technology. Well you should also know that I like modern design and enjoy cooking, so this latest discovery is something I'm really pretty excited about. There has been a long history of cool and crazy countertop kitchen gadgets, but this latest one gives that term new meaning. In this case, the kitchen gadget is the countertop.
A company based in Spain called Top Porzelanik Barcelona has created the world's first worktop you can cook on. TPBtech, as they have called it, is a highly durable countertop with induction technology and laser guidance built in. It is available in several finishes, and videos and information provided on their website demonstrate a high degree of functionality and aesthetic value. Streamlining the work surface not only makes for clean visual lines but a translates into a clean environment as well, making clean up easier by eliminating the nooks and crannies typical of traditional burners and stoves. I will allow the 'cool factor' to speak for itself.
